Mike Benzie
Director of Editorial Content
In his role of Director of Editorial Content, Mike oversees editorial strategy and content development for Remark Media's various websites and products. Mike has held past editor positions at Yahoo! and the Atlanta Journal-Constitution.
"Our team of talented reporters, editors and content managers complement a vast and experienced network of freelancers. Our goal is to engage with readers, using a clear and informative style that breaks down complex topics that help the average consumer with decision making."
Matt Crawford
VP of Engineering
As the VP of Engineering, Matthew's responsibilities cover the entire spectrum of the development lifecycle in the pursuit of bridging product vision to product reality. With a degree in Computer Information Management, Matthew has been working on the forefront of Internet technologies since the late 90s with a specialization in critical and large scale Internet infrastructure design and management. With his experience in launching websites in foreign countries and operating websites that handle hundreds of millions of page views per day, he knows how to bring Remark's technical success to your business.
"Remark's engineering team lives and breathes on the latest web technologies in the quest to bridge your ever expanding vision with solid technical solutions. My team brings well over 100 years of combined Internet experience in development design, implementation, QA and operations. All this knowledge allows us to tackle huge projects with less resources than typically needed to bring the best of the web to our clients and their visitors. We are thrilled and excited to see the launch of each new product we complete for our clients and how that changes the landscape for their future."
Rob Sheppe
VP of Product Management
As Vice President, Product Management, Rob Sheppe brings two decades of experience to oversee the Product strategy of Remark's digital portfolio with the rest of the leadership team. Most recently he served as Director, Product at Discovery Digital and was for years a lead Product Manager at HowStuffWorks, the hobby site that grew into a hugely popular fan destination attracting millions of loyal followers across various platforms. He co-hosted the popular "Stuff to Make You Smarter" podcast in 2011.
"Making a good digital product is equal parts art and science. I love the Product process -- the analysis, the brainstorming, the prototyping, the lifecycle management -- and working in a team environment to invent something new or solve very concrete, strategic problems. Product is an umbrella discipline that is simultaneously strategic and functional; its role is to ensure all disciplines and business needs are aligned for success. You have to know where you are and, more importantly, where you're going and why. I have a very simple approach:
- Consumer First.
- Think 3D: Disruptive, Delightful and Dimensional.
- Always be releasing.
- Have fun while getting it done.
Remark Media represents, for me, a Perfect Storm: a fun, nimble environment where I can bring the full measure of my experience to the table as I collaborate with a terrific talent pool of digital pros."
Shu Chen
Creative Director
In his role as Creative Director, Shu oversees User Experience, User Interface and production design for Remark Media's products and services. A graduate of Oglethorpe University, Shu has worked his way from a self-taught freelance web designer to Art Director of AirTight Design, an Atlanta-based interactive agency, to his current position as Creative Director.
"The design team lives for quality interface design, striving to create attractive, unique, and intuitive solutions to usability problems. As the conduit to a memorable and meaningful user experience, the design team takes its role very seriously, striving to make the end user the priority while maintaining our clients' interests."
